The following is a letter from Allergy & Asthma Network President and CEO Tonya Winders:
Dear Allergy & Asthma Network members,
The health and safety of our community of patients, families, healthcare professionals, industry partners and advocates are of the utmost importance to us. With this in mind, Allergy & Asthma Network has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone this year’s Allergy & Asthma Day Capitol Hill (#AADCH2020), 35th Anniversary Gala and Little River Band benefit concert due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Simply put, the risk of exposure and transmission of the coronavirus is too great, especially for those of us with compromised immune systems and respiratory diseases such as asthma. As an organization rooted in evidence-based care, we encourage you to follow the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
At this time, we are working on scheduling a virtual advocacy day for late May so that patients, families and advocates, along with the support of our sponsors and partners, can connect with members of Congress and federal policymakers. We look forward to continuing to fulfill our mission – please stay tuned for more information when it becomes available.
We are also working on rescheduling AADCH, the anniversary gala and Little River Band benefit concert for May 2021.
In addition, we plan to work with Network partners and use our resources to help educate people about the coronavirus and its health impact on people with asthma, allergies and related conditions. One such initiative is our free webinar “Distinguishing the Difference: COVID-19 vs. Allergies vs. Flu” scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.
Lastly, we kindly ask that you donate your purchased gala and/or concert ticket to support Allergy & Asthma Network’s core mission areas of outreach, education, advocacy and research. We will send you a letter acknowledging your donation for tax purposes. However, if you prefer a refund, we will return your purchase in full; please contact Marcela Gieminiani at 800.848.4403 or mgieminiani@allergyasthmanetwork.org.
Thank you for your ongoing support and we wish you and your family good health.
Sincerely,
Tonya Winders
