Breathing Space: Living With Allergic Asthma is a program created to help guide patients and their caregivers in managing uncontrolled asthma caused by allergic triggers in everyday life. This program is sponsored by Allergy & Asthma Network and Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America (AAFA) and made possible by Genentech, Inc. and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.

Parents of children with uncontrolled allergic asthma may feel helpless in trying to figure out how to manage asthma symptoms and allergic triggers. The experience of an allergic asthma attack is all too familiar for one Instagram star and author, Jessica Shyba; her son Jack, has allergic asthma.

“One specific time has stuck with me – Jack was coughing and having trouble breathing. It seemed like he was having an asthma attack and I was trying to get to the hospital in a New York City taxi,” said Jessica. “He was coughing so hard and was vomiting non-stop. I could only sit there and cry. I’ll always remember how helpless I felt knowing there was nothing I could do.”

Jessica joins Breathing Space to share the story of Jack’s road to diagnosis, the lifestyle changes they’ve made and the tips that have worked to manage his allergic triggers. Visit to learn more about Jack’s first asthma attack, and watch short videos of Jessica sharing tips she has found helpful in managing his condition.

Jessica is joined by Robin Wilson, interior designer and asthma-friendly home expert living with allergic asthma. Diagnosed with allergic asthma at a young age, Robin has become an advocate for clean design and helps create asthma- and allergy-friendly residential and commercial spaces for her clients.
