Eczema Meeting

A man wearing glasses and earbuds is sitting at a wooden table, taking notes while participating in a video conference on his laptop. The screen shows multiple people in a virtual meeting.

Allergy & Asthma Network partnered with four patient advocacy organizations to launch the More Than Skin Deep eczema initiative. Together, they hosted an externally led Patient-Focused Drug Development (PFDD) meeting for eczema.

This PFDD meeting allowed patients and caregivers to share what it’s like to live with eczema. They also shared what matters most to them about current and future treatments.

After the meeting, the five organizations collaborated to produce the More than Skin Deep “Voice of the Patient Report.” The report summarizes the findings from that meeting. The report also includes findings from written comments and results of an online survey.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) can use this report to take into account patient perspectives on eczema treatments. The report also helps inform the FDA on the drug development and evaluation process.

The More Than Skin Deep initiative continues to elevate the national dialogue around eczema. It encourages progress towards more targeted therapies.

In 2022, the five organizations worked to further analyze the survey results. The results show the heavy physical, emotional, social and financial burdens imposed by eczema and its treatments.
