Allergy & Asthma Network today announced President and Chief Executive Officer Tonya Winders has left the organization to pursue other opportunities. The Board of Directors has appointed Chief Operating Officer Lynda Mitchell, MA, CAE, to the role of Interim CEO.

The Board is engaging a search firm to identify the organization’s next President and CEO, with the goal of filling the position by March 2023.

During Winders’ tenure, the team at Allergy & Asthma Network expanded the organization’s mission, impact and reach to respond to evolving needs of those with asthma, allergies and related conditions, including the COVID-19 pandemic, digital health and the critical needs for those experiencing health inequities.

Mitchell joined Allergy & Asthma Network in 2020. In addition to guiding the organization’s operations, she also directs strategic digital health communications outreach to optimize patient engagement and mission impact. Mitchell has nearly 20 years of experience as a leader in the asthma and allergy community. She founded the first online food allergy community for parents – Kids With Food Allergies (KFA) – in 1998.

“Lynda is an exceptional leader. We know the organization will be well-served with her at the helm,” says John Tucker, who serves as co-chair of Allergy & Asthma Network’s Board of Directors. “As we transition into the organization’s next chapter, our team remains the same passionate, focused, committed, exceptional group that has driven the Network forward as a leader in allergy and asthma outreach, education, advocacy and research. Our mission to end the needless death and suffering due to asthma, allergies and related conditions continues. We are excited about what the future holds.”
