Allergy & Asthma Network to Provide Free Lung Screenings at ¡Vive Tu Vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® Events Nationwide
Published: July 18, 2025
FAIRFAX, VA – This summer and fall, Allergy & Asthma Network is joining the National Alliance for Hispanic Health to bring free respiratory health screenings and educational resources to cities across the country through ¡Vive Tu Vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® events.
As part of Allergy & Asthma Network’s Trusted Messengers community outreach program, healthcare professionals will be at each event to provide critical information about asthma, allergies and other lung health conditions. Attendees can take a free respiratory health screening survey, learn about asthma management, and access culturally relevant resources tailored to their needs.
Approximately 3.9 million Hispanic/Latino people in the United States have asthma, with the highest prevalence among Puerto Rican Americans. Data shows they are twice as likely to require emergency medical care for asthma as non-Hispanic whites.
“Hispanic/Latino communities consistently face gaps in accessing respiratory care – and this can impact health outcomes,” says Lynda Mitchell, CEO of Allergy & Asthma Network. “Our goal with Trusted Messengers is to meet people where they are – in their neighborhoods – to ensure everyone has access to education, screening and support. These events are an opportunity to empower families with life-saving information and connect them to vital services.”

About Trusted Messengers
Trusted Messengers is the signature health equity program of Allergy & Asthma Network. The program is built on a belief in community-led solutions to achieve equity in healthcare. Trusted Messengers began in 2020 to address the negative health impact of COVID-19 and asthma in the Black community. The program helps people get the knowledge they need – from trusted, credible sources such as local churches and community health centers – to adopt healthy behaviors and make informed decisions about their healthcare. Trusted Messengers events involve certified asthma educators going into communities to conduct assessments for asthma, allergies, food allergies and eczema. People with asthma are invited to enroll in virtual asthma coaching, a free 6-week series of 1-on-1 online sessions – available in English and Spanish – with a certified asthma educator. Trusted Messengers is funded through the generous support of founding sponsor Sanofi, as well as by AstraZeneca, Chiesi, Genentech and Regeneron.
