It’s important to manage anxiety or stress because symptoms can often mimic those of asthma or COVID-19, such as shortness of breath or tightness in the chest.

What are strategies to reduce anxiety or stress during the COVID-19 crisis? Psychologist Gianine Rosenblum, PhD, teaches “square breathing,” in which you exhale and inhale air in and out of lungs a series of times until you reach a state of calm and ease. “Square breathing” is not only helpful as a daily ritual – in the morning or evening, whatever time is best for you – but also when you’re in a state of anxiety or stress.
